Pretoria - Police are searching for an armed gang which killed six people at two houses near the Shongweni Dam in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.
According to police spokeswoman Brigadier Phindile Radebe an entire family is among the dead.
Radebe said the gang of about four men attacked a house shared by a couple. They shot and killed the man. The woman was also shot but survived the incident and was taken to hospital.
The gang also attacked a house shared by a family of five. A 40-year-old woman, her three children and her grandchild were all killed.
The shootings took place between the late hours of Monday night and the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Radebe said the motive for the attacks was unknown and that the Hawks were investigating the incident.
