Pretoria - Bafana Bafana's woeful run continued last night at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban with yet another goalless draw against Senegal.
Last night could have been Helsingborgs midfielder May Mahlangu's proudest moment in Bafana colours after the Swedish based player caught the Teranga Lions' defence in the eighth minute of the match, but his left-footed shot in the box was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul.
From the onset, the visitors seemed satisfied to play for a draw as Bafana goal keeper Itumeleng Khune had a quiet first half.
As the West Africans continued to wait for Bafana to attack, Pitso Mosimane's charges frustrated the Senegalese midfield and defence with their wonderful quick-passes, which ended with Katlego Mphela trying to unleash a shot, but again it was easily saved by Coundoul.
With less than 10 minutes into the second half, Bafana created another goal-scoring opportunity but Thulani Serero lost his composure and cut his right-footed shot off the target.
In the second half, Mosimane replaced both Tsepo Masilela and Kagisho Dikgacoi with Punch Masenamela and Thanduyise Khuboni.
With his quick pace on the left back, Masenamela continued to trouble the Senegalese centre back with this great crosses, but his teammates continued to fail to punish the West Africans.
The Senegalese goal keeper became the hero of the day when he plunged to his left to save Mphela's header coming from an excellent cross from Bafana's right back Anele Ngcongca.
Three minutes later, the Teranga Lions failed to punish the home-team when Dame Ndoye missed the target in the box after receiving a cross from Pape Souare.
In the 86th minute, Bafana substitute, George Maluleka gave Mphela a good cut-back, but the Senegalese defenders were quick to close him down.
In the dying minutes of the game, Masenamela overlapped from his left back to provide a great pass to unmark Teko Modise in the box, however, Modise's composure was poor as Coundoul just got his fingertips to direct the ball over the crossbar.
After the match, Mosimane conceded that his team needed a goal scoring hero.
"Yes, we've played very well, we've attacked them but we lack composure in the box to punish the opponents. I've raised this issue several times that in South Africa, we need someone who will score the goals for us."
Mahlangu said: "We've played well but we were not lucky, it is a matter of time, things will be fine very soon."
His sentiments were echoed by man of the match Morgan Gould, Mphela and Serero, who all said they played very well but were unlucky to find the back of the net.
