Pretoria – President Jacob Zuma has requested that the date for the State of the Nation Address (SONA) be changed to Tuesday, 17 June 2014.
This official ceremony of State was originally set for Thursday, 19 June, at 19:00.
“This will be President Zuma’s first Address to the joint sitting of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces since the establishment of the Fifth Parliament,” Parliament said in a statement on Tuesday.
The June SONA, which follows the national and provincial elections, will be delivered in the evening at 19:00, as has been the case in recent years. – SAnews.gov.za
