Special funeral for E Cape king

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has decided, on request of the Eastern Cape Provincial Government, to declare a Special Provincial Official Funeral for King Justice Mpondombini Sigcau.

Sigcau passed away at the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha following a brief illness.

The Special Provincial Official Funeral is reserved for distinguished persons, as decided by the President of the Republic, upon receipt of the request from the province of origin.

“The President has decided to declare the funeral for King Sigcau, as he has distinguished himself as he was the king of AmaMpondo in the Eastern Cape province. He served as King of AmaMpondo since December 1978,” the Presidency said.

The President has instructed that the National Flag fly at half-mast in the Eastern Cape on the day of the funeral. – SAnews.gov.za
