Pretoria – A director of a container Logistics Company in Alberton has been arrested for allegedly cloning three heavy vehicles and misrepresenting them.

“The vehicles owned by the suspect were stopped by the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s (RTMC) anti-corruption unit and upon inspection, identified that the vehicles were deregistered, one unlicensed, and the other tampered with,” RTMC said.

All the vehicles were being operated on the public road whilst having duplicated number plates and license discs from Mpumalanga.

“The suspect is alleged to have conspired with his business partner who is also a suspect, to obtain the duplicates,” RTMC.

RTMC CEO Makhosini Msibi said unroadworthy vehicles are one of the key issues that contribute towards accidents on the roads.

“The RTMC warns heavy vehicle operators that it will not tolerate unscrupulous conduct as it leads to avoidable deaths on the roads," RTMC CEO Makhosini Msibi said. – SA.news.gov.za
