Pretoria - Two men accused of defrauding the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund of R1.2 million, are expected to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, tomorrow.
The alleged fraudsters, Kenneth Martin Mahuluhulu, aged 32, from Thohoyandou and co-accused Khathutshelo Nethengwe, aged 35, from Olifantsfontein, face fraud charges.
They are both out on a R5 000 bail each.
Mahuluhulu is an information technology fundi and was arrested in August last year at his place of work at the University of South Africa. His co-accused Nethengwe, a former employee of the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund, turned himself in.
Before their first court appearance last year, the accused had been on the run for two years. They are alleged to have committed fraudulent activities between 2006 and 2009. They allegedly siphoned the department’s Compensation Fund, working as a syndicate by submitting and processing fraudulent claims.
