Pretoria - As the winter season approaches, people in high risk of influenza are being encouraged to vaccinate against flu.
The Gauteng Health and Social Development Department will begin a mass campaign in April 2011, where they will be prioritising the vaccination of the high risk group, which includes people with chronic illnesses, HIV infected, pregnant women, those over the age of 65 and children under the age of five years.
"The vaccination will be made available free of charge for the above group of people at all public health facilities in Gauteng. Other members of the community who do not fall in the group may access these vaccines but at a cost at any pharmacy," said department spokesperson Simon Zwane.
