Pretoria - Women, people with disabilities and other rightly qualified people are encouraged to apply for at least 30 senior management positions at the Ministry of Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities.
Minister Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya on Sunday called on those with the right qualifications to apply for the positions that range from Deputy Directors, Directors and Chief Directors that have been advertised by her ministry.
This is part of the department's efforts to increase its capacity and upscale programme implementation.
The positions of which applications close on 20 August 2010 require expertise on issues relating to gender, children's rights and disability as well as organisational support services.
"We invite all suitable qualified people, particularly women and people with disabilities to apply and join this struggle to improve the lives of women, children and persons with disabilities in our country," said Minister Mayende-Sibiya.
Details of the posts can be accessed on the department's website: www.wcpd.gov.za.
Minister Mayende-Sibiya said the selection process of the Deputy Directors General responsible for each of the three branches of the department as well as support services has been completed and the announcement of these appointments will be made soon.
The success of Women's Day celebrations across the country was also highlighted by the minister. Close to 30 000 people attended the main National Women's Day event at ABSA Stadium in East London on 9 August.
"Mass participation of women in these activities indicates that we are connecting with our constituencies. We will continue to consult and engage with all groups working on issues of gender, children's rights and disability to maximise unity in addressing the many challenges facing them," said Minister Mayende-Sibiya.
