Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will on Sunday be visiting community projects in Peddie and Butterworth in the Eastern Cape as part of government's Zero Hunger Campaign.
The Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform said the campaign was part of its continued support for the Masibambisane Rural Development Initiative (MRDI), which aims to equip communities in the rural areas to develop themselves, especially in the area of agriculture.
Having started in Nkandla and Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, the MRDI is chaired by President Jacob Zuma in his capacity as a community member and was successfully launched in the Eastern Cape in Qumbu village last year.
Zuma will be joined by the provincial Rural Development MEC Zoleka Capa, who in a statement stressed the importance of engaging traditional and religious leaders in the eradication of poverty and underdevelopment.
The President will be accompanied by key investors who are keen on poverty eradication and economic growth of the province through food production and rural development initiatives.
