Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has wished Nobel laureate, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, a happy birthday, as he turns 82 today.
"On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, we wish Archbishop Tutu a joyous occasion as he celebrates his 82nd birthday today. We wish him good health and a long life so that he can continue contributing to nation building and social cohesion, which he continues to do even in retirement,” said Zuma.
Media reported that Tutu and his wife Leah are celebrating their birthdays by giving back to their community.
His wife turns 80 next week. The pair reportedly handed over a sports ground to Marconi Beam Primary School and collected gifts for the elderly during a church service at the weekend. – SAnews.gov.za
